Ignition repair

The key goes in, and nothing turns

Worn keys, worn cylinders and broken keys all end the same way, with you sitting in a car that won't start. We fix it where it's parked.

Licensed by the State of California, LCO 7283, and insured. Free on-site estimate on most jobs.

Find the cause, then fix it

We start with the cheapest explanation. A key worn smooth after years on a ring is very common, and a freshly cut key can bring the ignition back to life. If the cylinder itself is worn or damaged, we repair or replace it and match it to your key where the car allows it.

How the price works

Ignition work depends on whether a new key fixes it or the cylinder itself needs repair or replacement. We check the cheaper option first.

Free on-site estimate on most jobs, and the final price is said before any work starts. You can still say no.

Questions people ask us

My key won't turn in the ignition. Is it the key or the ignition?
Often the key is worn, sometimes the cylinder is. We check both before replacing anything. A new cut key sometimes solves it on the spot.
Do you replace ignition cylinders?
Yes, on many makes, and we can key the new ignition to your existing door key when possible.
Half the key snapped off inside the ignition.
The stuck half comes out with an extractor and, most of the time, we cut a replacement from the pieces or straight from the lock.
